Christian Youth in Action (CYIA)

is a program designed to train you and a team of other young people in effective and engaging ways to teach children about God. You will attend a one-week training at Camp Fairwood with teenagers from across the state where you will learn to present the Gospel clearly on a child’s level, counsel a child for salvation, and lead a dynamic club ministry for kids. Components of this club include teaching a Bible lesson, a real-life missionary story, and a Bible verse as well as leading songs, games, and a fun review time.

After the week of training at Camp Fairwood, you will have a week of hands-on training in your local chapter. During this week you will be able to practice the skills you learned with the other teenagers from your local chapter and a staff member who will be there to help sharpen your skills. You will also be able to put them into practice by teaching a real Summer Good News Club each day. There will also be a chapel time each night where you can connect with the other teenagers from around the state and dig into God's Word together.

After this training, you will teach anywhere from 2-6 weeks of Summer Good News Clubs at various locations with a team of other young people in your local chapter. You will be able to take the light of the Gospel to children in their apartment complexes, daycare centers, neighborhoods, schools, churches, and other community locations.

The CYIA program exists to develop leaders by challenging students to grow in their relationship with Jesus and to train and equip them to share the Gospel with children in their communities.

The teenagers who go through CYIA training are required to teach at least 2 weeks of Summer Good News Club (4 weeks if they are paid summer missionaries instead of a volunteer). The Summer Good News Club is an exciting, fun-filled one-and-a-half-hour experience held each day for five consecutive days. It includes dynamic Bible lessons, creative learning activities, inspiring missionary stories, meaningful songs, and life-changing Scripture memorization. The teen will teach anywhere from 1-3 of these clubs per day.

The teenagers will need to raise support for the cost of training. If they desire to be paid instead of volunteering, they will also need to raise that support. Their local chapter will help them in raising this support through letters, a Bible study on support raising, and any other help they need to raise the full amount. If they cannot raise the full amount by camp, they and their family will be responsible for covering that cost.
